Overview
There are 700 islands in The Bahamas, and 2,000 tiny rocks and cays stretching from the Florida peninsula almost to Haiti, across more than 100,000 square miles of shallow tropical ocean. A great selection of local dishes to explore
Conch
The humble conch is pretty much the national dish: try conch fritters, conch salad, cracked conch (battered and fried), steamed or stewed conch. Check out the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay on a Friday night.
The Bahama Mamma
The signature cocktail, made of coconut and white rums, grenadine, pineapple, orange juice, with a float of dark rum. Irresistible.
Divine seafood
Grouper, crawfish in season, crab, lobster, crab backs ... Bahamians are island people and they know how to prepare fresh seafood to perfection.
And for dessert ...
Guava duffs are another Bahamian speciality: subtly spiced cake dough, steamed and filled generously with guava jam.

15% is a standard tip for good service, but service charges are added to most hotel and restaurant bills

Cars can be rented at the airport or through your hotel. Driving is on the left. Seatbelts are mandatory. A valid home country permit can be used for three months
Public Transport
Taxis and ground tours are widely used by visitors, and there is a basic bus service (“jitneys”) in New Providence and Grand Bahama

Business hours are normally 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Shopping malls usually open till 8 p.m. (Sundays 11.00 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and banking hours are 9.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. (Fridays 4.30 p.m.).
